The Frustration Fast: How Gratitude Shifted My State (and My Results)

Living in a State of Frustration

Frustrated woman holding her phone, symbolizing everyday irritation and how frustration becomes a habitual state that blocks abundance.

About a week ago, I had a realization that hit me harder than I expected: I spend a lot of time frustrated.

Sometimes it’s subtle—like a sigh when the computer takes too long to load.
Sometimes it’s louder—like snapping at my dogs:
“Stop barking! Stop licking the floor! Stop bothering the cat!”

If I’m honest, frustration had become my baseline. And here’s the thing: frustration is not an abundant state. If I’m living in it day after day, it’s no wonder manifestation sometimes feels slow, heavy, or even stuck.

The Antidote: Gratitude in the Moment

Woman standing outdoors with a peaceful smile, symbolizing gratitude as the antidote to frustration and the shift into abundance.

The shift came when I decided to experiment. Every time I felt frustration rising—even in the smallest moments—I would pause and name one thing I was grateful for.

But not just the “what.” I added the “why.”

  • I’m grateful for my dogs because they remind me I’m loved, no matter what mood I’m in.

  • I’m grateful for this computer because, even if it’s slow, it allows me to run my business from anywhere.

Gratitude became my interruption pattern. Other antidotes could work too: taking a short walk, a few deep breaths, or connecting with a loved one. The key is simply to disrupt the frustration loop and redirect energy into something expansive.

What Happened Next

I’ll be honest—it wasn’t easy at first. The old pattern was strong, and frustration wanted to win. But I kept at it. And within a few days, something shifted.

Life started feeling lighter. Business opportunities I’d been visualizing for months suddenly appeared. Little synchronicities started clicking into place. The energy around me shifted in ways I couldn’t ignore.

Could it really be this easy, I thought?

Yep. It’s really that easy—and here’s why it works.

Why Gratitude Works

Frustration contracts. It narrows your focus, blocks creativity, and makes you blind to solutions that are often right in front of you. Gratitude does the opposite—it expands.

  • Physically: Gratitude calms the nervous system, reducing stress and shifting you into a state where your body feels safe.

  • Mentally: It trains the conscious mind to notice what’s good instead of rehearsing what’s missing.

  • Energetically: Gratitude signals abundance, programming the subconscious to expect more of it.

And because the subconscious doesn’t argue—it just creates what it’s fed—gratitude becomes the fuel that accelerates manifestation.

Neville’s Teaching: Choosing Abundance Over Lack

Person standing at a crossroads between a dark foggy road and a bright sunlit path, symbolizing Neville Goddard’s teaching that you can’t live in lack and abundance at the same time.

Neville Goddard taught that you can’t occupy two states at once. You cannot live in lack and abundance at the same time.

For me, that meant something simple but powerful: I couldn’t be frustrated and happy at the same time.

Free will isn’t about controlling every circumstance—it’s about choosing which emotions you want to nurture. When I chose gratitude over frustration, I was making a conscious decision about the state I wanted to inhabit.

Changing your feelings and redirecting your emotions is more than a mood shift—it actually changes your state of being. You move from a state of frustration, where nothing seems to work, to a state of harmony, where everything begins to align perfectly.

Practice This: The Frustration Fast

If you want to try this yourself, here’s a simple 3-step practice:

  1. Notice the trigger. Catch yourself in the act of sighing, snapping, or tensing up.

  2. Interrupt it with gratitude. Name one thing you’re grateful for and why.

  3. Repeat daily. With practice, gratitude becomes your new baseline.

The more you practice, the faster you shift—and the more your outer reality begins to reflect your new inner state.
